The Undergraduate Economics Association aspires to be a platform for students within the economics major. In particular, The UEA is dedicated to addressing student’s needs and concerns, organizing programs that foster unity and academic success.
Meetings and Events
The Undergraduate Economics Association is still a very new organization and is working on establishing more regular general member meetings and events. At the moment, we do not hold regular meetings, but we do throw various events throughout the quarter that we encourage all those who are interested to attend.
Hi, my name is Julia Rosales and I am UEA’s Communications and Project Management chair. I am a fourth year majoring in Economics and minoring in Mathematics. Throughout the years, I have been conducting research through the Economics Department and through the McNair Scholars Program. I am really interested in teaching and hope to continue my education by earning my Ph.D. in economics.
Hi, my name is Tejal and I’m UEA’s Historian! I’m currently a third-year majoring in Economics and Statistics & Data Science. I have really enjoyed getting involved with the Economics department here at UCSB; a couple of my favorite memories include creating a presentation about Universal Basic Income in Econ96 last year, and participating in the Data Hackathon last fall. I am interested in the fields of data science and business analytics and hope to work at a tech company in the future!
My name is Rima Parekh, and I am UEA’s Publicity and Content Chair. I am a third year undergraduate student pursuing a degree in economics, and I work as a math tutor for CLAS and a research assistant for the Economic Forecast Project at UCSB. Outside of school, you can usually find me singing or playing the piano (aka making loud noises, much to the dismay of others), reading, or trying new foods.
My name is Lauren Hansen and I am UEA’s Finance Chair! I am currently a Junior and an Economics major. I am interested in finance and investments and hope that my degree will allow me to pursue a career in that sector. I also have plans to begin taking the CFA exams in the upcoming years and hopefully receive that certification!
Hi! I’m Simran, and I’m a third year Economics major, with a minor in Mathematics. I’m interested in economic research, especially in the fields of natural resource and environmental economics. I’m currently involved in research through my position as a research assistant and through the McNair Scholars Program. As an officer in UEA, I want to help students –especially first generation students– successfully navigate through the Econ major and make the most of the opportunities offered to them. If you have any econ-related questions or concerns, or even if you’d just like to chat, feel free to message me via email or come talk to me at our next UEA event!
